Remembrance Parade 2016

Posted on November 18th, 2016 by Kieran

On Sunday the 13th of November members of Rotherham District scouts paid their respects to the fallen soldiers of wars such as World War 1 and 2. Wreaths were laid accross the district as a sign of respect.

The 6th Rotherham paid their respects at their meeting. As well as parading in Wath on Sunday.

The 42nd Rotherham had their parade at the Holy Trinity Church and marked it along with their own village brass band.

Just over 12 months ago 27th Rotherham st George’s Woodsetts was short on leaders, cubs and scouts and had no beaver colony at all just look at us now and this is just a few of them at our local church on Remembrance Day we have gone from strength to strength everyone worked so hard from the flag bearers and escorts to the two scouts that did a beautiful reading about two soldiers in WW1 and not forgetting the fantastic leaders who are so very proud of each group we really did make a fabulous impression on the local community a big well done to all involved.

Finally Under glorious blue skies members of Rotherham Explorers and Network paid their annual visit to a crash site in Kinder Scout.

A short reading was lead by Andrew Winfrow before the party paid their respects and left their poppies at the site.

38th Rotherham Chinese New Year

Posted on March 13th, 2015 by Kieran

The 38th Rotherham Cubs really went to town this year and thoroughly celebrated Chinese New Year.

We had a Chinese Graphic designer Silkin Tan (http://www.silkintancreativedesign.co.uk/) visit us and talk to us about Chinese New Year. We did some Chinese writing and design work relating to New Year traditions.
We also learnt that it is the year of the Sheep. Silkin was kind enough to design some book marks for all the Cubs.
We also spent a few weeks designing and making a real Chinese Dragon complete with a 5 metre orange tail and very scary face. This involved some DIY to saw the sticks and sewing to attach the sticks to the tail.
The cubs all enjoyed dancing underneath the dragon to Chinese New Year music.
