Grant Application Guidance Funding for Adventure and Character-Building Activities. The Fund welcomes applications from Scouting members aged 4 to 25 years old who are based in the Rotherham area. Funding can help towards the cost of a wide range of events such as; – Fundays – Sleepovers – Camps – Duke of Edinburgh activities – Expeditions – Jamborees – Residential experiences – Outdoor adventures – Other worthwhile adventurous activities The aim of the funding is to help young people take part in experiences that develop confidence, independence, resilience, teamwork and life skills. Before You Apply, Please make sure your application meets all of the following requirements: 1. Your application has a clear adventure focus The activity you are applying for should involve adventure, challenge, exploration or an outdoor/residential experience. 2. The activity is worthwhile and character-building The funding should enable young people to participate in an adventurous activity that provides meaningful opportunities for personal development, learning and growth. 3. All participants are under 25 years old The funding is for Scouting members aged 4–24 years old at the time of the activity. 4. There is a connection to the Fund’s catchment area The applicant or participants must have an appropriate connection to the Rotherham area. 5. The grant can cover up to 50% of the full cost The Fund can award a maximum grant of up to 50% of the total cost of the activity. Please ensure that your application explains how the remaining costs will be met, for example through fundraising, contributions from participants, group funds or other sources of support. 6. The activity must not have already taken place Applications must be submitted before the activity takes place. Unfortunately, the Fund is unable to provide funding for activities or expenses that have already happened. Informal Enquiries If you would like to discuss your proposed application or check whether your activity may be suitable before applying, please feel free to contact us for an informal enquiry. We are happy to answer questions and provide guidance before you submit your application. Please remember: applications must be for an eligible adventurous activity that has not yet taken place, and the maximum grant available is up to 50% of the full cost.
