Helping to fund your next adventure
Who is Allan Blackburn?
Allan Blackburn was an active member of 1st Rotherham Scout Group, joining in November 2001 as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader. In March 2007, Allan took on the role of Cub Scout Leader. From the moment he joined the movement, he began a remarkable journey of service, dedication and commitment to Scouting.
Since beginning his Scouting journey in 2001, Allan devoted many years to volunteering with 1st Rotherham Scout Group. Throughout his time in Scouting, he helped train and inspire generations of young people, passing on valuable skills for life, confidence, friendship and a love of adventure.
Allan’s commitment to helping others extended beyond Scouting. He was also a dedicated member of the Salvation Army, where he generously gave his time and continued his commitment to serving his community.
In 2023, Allan sadly passed away. His loss was deeply felt by everyone who knew him. He is truly missed by his fellow Scouters at 1st Rotherham Scout Group, as well as by friends and colleagues across the district.
Allan leaves behind a lasting legacy. The skills he taught, the lives he touched and the memories he created continue to live on through the many generations of young people he supported and inspired.
Allan kindly left a monetary donation in his will to Rotherham District Scouts. In 2026, a fund was created for young people aged 4–25 to apply for financial support towards events, camps, expeditions, Jamborees and other Scouting opportunities.
